Problems for Moral Debunkers
One the most interesting debates in moral philosophy revolves around the significance of empirical moral psychology for moral philosophy. Genealogical arguments that rely on empirical findings about the origins of moral beliefs, so-called debunking arguments, take center stage in this debate. Looking at debunking arguments based on evidence from evolutionary moral psychology, experimental ethics and neuroscience, this book explores what ethicists can learn from the science of morality, and what they cannot. Among other things, the book offers a new take on the deontology/utilitarianism debate, discusses the usefulness of experiments in ethics, investigates whether morality should be thought of as a problem-solving device, shows how debunking arguments can tell us something about the structure of philosophical debate, and argues that debunking arguments lead to both moral and prudential skepticism. Valentin Mureșan a fost profesor emerit al Facultății de filosofie, Universitatea din București, a publicat comentarii extinse pe marginea unor lucrări fundamentale de Platon, Aristotel, Kant și Mill, precum și studii de filosofie morală analitică. A fost, de asemenea, numit Distinguished Research Fellow al Centrului Uehiro pentru Etica Practică (Universitatea din Oxford).
Etică şi integritate academică
Etica academică se plasează la intersecția rezultată din aplicarea instrumentelor specifice eticii profesionale, eticii cercetării, dar și managementului eticii și integrității în organizații. Ea vizează construirea unui cadru sănătos de coexistență și cooperare în mediul nostru universitar. Fiecare dintre cele trei direcții de mai sus, constitutive eticii academice, aduce cu sine concepte și perspective unice, aruncând o lumină particulară și importantă asupra contextului vieții universitare. Manualul de față prezintă și preia câteva dintre contribuțiile importante care vin dinspre toate cele trei abordări, deși nu întotdeauna accentuează în mod explicit acest lucru (dar zona de proveniență a argumentelor este totuși ușor de decelat). Ediția de față, a doua, a cunoscut revizuiri și adăugiri semnificative, inclusiv noi capitole și secțiuni, în urma comentariilor și sugestiilor pe care le-am primit după prima ediție, publicată în 2018.
