The fashion industry produces more carbon emissions than international flights and maritime shipping combined, and is the second-largest consumer of the world's water supply – despite this, 85% of all textiles end up in the dump each year. If you are one of the rising numbers of concerned consumers who feel uneasy about their contribution to these figures, then How to Quit Fast Fashion is the essential guide to help you lessen your impact on our eco-system, whilst remaining fashionable and well-dressed. Across 100 step-by-step tips, this book will help you take action through easy to follow advice and practical ways to have a more sustainable style. From what the jargon on your clothes' labels really means and introductions to the world of rental fashion, to how to make your favourite clothes last longer, you'll be able to officially quit fast fashion.

The Curtain Within explores the management of social roles and symbols to achieve various goals by people living in a modern Haida community. Moiety and lineage, social rank, the rules of entitlement to inherited property, and the mode of thought encoded in mythology still have force in Haida society. Political action did not and does not take place within the context of formal political institutions; instead it exists through the management of the symbols of social relationships and of entitlement to tangible and intangible property.

Mighty oaks stood guard at my country school, deeply rooted from the time before people began landing at Plymouth Rock. Their pungent perfume invited me to come and play. Their presence did not vary except in fall when their leaves turned brown and fell to the ground. They stood as strong as a bull and as independent as a Scotsman unaffected by the winds of circumstance. Such were our ancestors: the Olsons, Krugers, Matthews, Hamlins, and Mortons. Each family came from similar backgrounds, but experienced life in different ways. These stories form a symbolic tapestry and create a record of our existence. Everyone may have similar experiences but none the same because we are unique individuals. These stories are important for future generations to ponder a time past and reflect on why we are who we are. Vladimir Nabokov wrote, Important if for no other reason, than these tales will be lost if not recorded.

Beth Richards writes: "My poetry probably reflects the inside image of my thoughts-sometimes very deep thoughts. I write from the heart and sometimes when I'm in a reflective mood my poetry is serious and somewhat philosophical " This collection of poems is a result of Beth's suggestion to Charles Muller that they produce a book that combines their gifts. Beth says: "Charles and I have led two very different lives, and it shows in our writing-hence the title Worlds Apart. Apart from having been born in different hemispheres, we are two very different people, but we appear to be kindred spirits in many ways. (Both born under the star sign of Leo!)" The poems by Charles Muller are perhaps more startling, with jagged images and sentences that cut like broken glass, sometimes exposing the raw nerves of life. Many of these were composed in the context of Apartheid South Africa and recall the violence and injustices of those times. Beth and Charles are also artists, and the cover depicts a painting by each of the poet-paintings that highlight their contrasting worlds.
