Biosensing with Silicon

This book discusses two silicon biosensors: an electrochemical sensor – the Electrolyte Insulator Silicon Capacitor (EISCAP), and a mechanical resonant cantilever sensor. The author presents the principle and the technology behind the device fabrication and miniaturization, stable and reproducible functionalization protocols for bioreceptor immobilization, and the measurement and the data analysis for extracting the best performance from these sensors. EISCAP sensors, used for the estimation of triglycerides and urea, have been improved through the use of micromachining processes. The miniaturization brought out advantages as well as challenges which are discussed in this book, resulting i...

Outraged conscience, careful argument, poetry and political analysis -- gathered here is the diversity of voices, traditions, and approaches that are weaving themselves into an anti-nuclear and peace movement in India and Pakistan. In these essays, written before, during, and after the May 1998 nuclear explosions, scholars and activists from both countries attempt to understand and challenge the nuclearisation of South Asia. The essays are an act of resistance against governments that see nuclear weapons as a currency of power, as symbols of prestige, as sources of security, as moments of glory in an otherwise dismal contemporary history. The collection includes Mahatma Gandhi's response to t...

Analog and Digital Meters

  • Categories: Art

The indication of electrical parameters such as AC voltage, DC voltage, AC current, DC current and frequency is an important task of electronic measurements. There are two modes of indication; (1) analog and (2) digital. Analog meters are used for analog indication and digital meters are used for digital indication. An analog meter is a device that features a printed display to indicate any electrical parameter. An example could be the energy consumed by a typical business, or electrical device. Also called an electromechanical meter, it offers an easy-to-read display. Digital meters are the product of the latest developments in electronic technology, so it is to be expected that they will incorporate many features that are not available in typical moving-coil meters. As well as a wide selection of voltage, current and resistance ranges (including accurate low-resistance range) many of these meters also provide for measurements of capacitance and frequency. This book describes both analog and digital meters.

Nakul

Nakul,is a story of passion,of emotions.Nakul, an eleven year old school going boy is passionate about football and greatly attached to his pets. His sister and grandmother play an important role in his life, while Karthik and Bhupinder, his friends in school, are many times Nakul's guiding light. His shy nature stops him from asking doubts from his teachers. Thus he is many times laughed at by other class mates for his wrong answers. Remembering names and dates in History is a mystery for him, and sometimes latitude - longitude make him puzzled. The story sees love between teens, crush of young ones, and a turning point is Nakul's visit to his paternal Village. Meeting his cousin Bhombol brings a turning point in his life. The city boy gains confidence, clarity and hope thus making his stay memorable in the village. Does Nakul return to the city? What is his outlook? What's the new change in Nakul? The book shall answer all.
