A arguição, peça argumentativa de avaliação final de uma pesquisa e que faz parte do métier acadêmico de aferição meritocrática, pode ser considerada a primeira interlocução pública que uma dissertação de mestrado ou tese de doutorado recebe, cujos resultados na forma de debate coletivo em torno da feitura dos trabalhos, métodos utilizados, teorias discutidas, escopo empírico avaliado, geralmente ficam confinados ao momento ritual da defesa, cujo investimento da parte do arguidor na leitura crítica não é de menor importância dentro do processo de formação de novos pesquisadores e futuros docentes.
