This major reference book is divided into two sections; the first deals with the practical, hands-on understanding of individual areas of tape casting and the other targets the understanding of the overall system. Readers can quickly address current problems with tried and true fixes and their relation to the overall process. The book handles the problem diagnosis separately from the standard production of quick-fixes. Tape Casting will benefit technicians, engineers, and engineering managers, as well as professors and students.
MEMS technology and applications have grown at a tremendous pace, while structural dimensions have grown smaller and smaller, reaching down even to the molecular level. With this movement have come new types of applications and rapid advances in the technologies and techniques needed to fabricate the increasingly miniature devices that are literally changing our world. A bestseller in its first edition, Fundamentals of Microfabrication, Second Edition reflects the many developments in methods, materials, and applications that have emerged recently. Renowned author Marc Madou has added exercise sets to each chapter, thus answering the need for a textbook in this field. Fundamentals of Microfa...
Designed for science and engineering students, this text focuses on emerging trends in processes for fabricating MEMS and NEMS devices. The book reviews different forms of lithography, subtractive material removal processes, and additive technologies. Both top-down and bottom-up fabrication processes are exhaustively covered and the merits of the different approaches are compared. Students can use this color volume as a guide to help establish the appropriate fabrication technique for any type of micro- or nano-machine.
Advanced Bioceramics: Properties, Processing, and Applications describes development of bioceramics and biocomposites, which are used in various biomedical applications including bone tissue repair, remodelling and regeneration. It covers the fundamental aspects of materials science and bioengineering, clinical performance in a variety of applications, ISO/ASTM specifications, and opportunities and challenges. Offers a comprehensive view of properties and processing of bioceramics Highlights applications in dentistry, orthopaedic and maxillofacial implants, and regenerative and tissue engineering Covers ISO/ASTM specifications such as processing, clinical applications, recycling/reuse and disposal standards Explores health, environmental and ethical issues With contributions from eminent editors and recognized authors around the world, this book should serve as an important reference for academics, scientists, researchers, students and practitioners in materials science and biomedical engineering. It is to assist in the design of novel, targeted and personalised bioceramic-based solutions to advanced healthcare.
With information on the subject of dielectric materials, this volume brings important updates to electronic device engineers and researchers in the area of ferroelectric materials. Topics include materials, processes, properties, and electronic devices based on these materials and systems. Proceedings of the symposium held at the 103rd Annual Meeting of The American Ceramic Society, April 22-25, 2001, in Indiana; Ceramic Transactions, Volume 131.
Colloidal processing has always been a major processing method. It facilitates control of particle interactions through a wide variety of schemes, which include surface coating, dispersion additives, and solvent control, among others. Controlling particle interactions also permits better resultant rheology and controlled green microstructures via a wide range of forming methods. In recent years, the particle size involved has been broadened into both the nanometer and the larger than micrometer ranges. This book covers fundamental issues encountered in colloidal processing nano-(less than 0.1 micron), micro-(from 0.1 to 5 micron) and macro-(larger than 5 micron) particulate systems and at the same time explore applications for these developments. Proceedings of the symposium held at the 105th Annual Meeting of The American Ceramic Society, April 27-30, in Nashville, Tennessee; Ceramic Transactions, Volume 152.
PRICM-8 features the most prominent and largest-scale interactions in advanced materials and processing in the Pacific Rim region. The conference is unique in its intrinsic nature and architecture which crosses many traditional discipline and cultural boundaries. This is a comprehensive collection of papers from the 15 symposia presented at this event.
Now in its third edition, Fundamentals of Microfabrication and Nanotechnology continues to provide the most complete MEMS coverage available. Thoroughly revised and updated the new edition of this perennial bestseller has been expanded to three volumes, reflecting the substantial growth of this field. It includes a wealth of theoretical and practical information on nanotechnology and NEMS and offers background and comprehensive information on materials, processes, and manufacturing options. The first volume offers a rigorous theoretical treatment of micro- and nanosciences, and includes sections on solid-state physics, quantum mechanics, crystallography, and fluidics. The second volume prese...
