100 Years of Subatomic Physics

This book reviews the important achievements in subatomic physics in the past century. The chapters are divided into two parts: nuclear physics and particle physics. This book provides academics and researchers an essential overview of the present state of knowledge in nuclear and particle physics.

Subatomic Physics Solutions Manual (3rd Edition)

This is the solutions manual for many (particularly odd-numbered) end-of-chapter problems in Subatomic Physics, 3rd Edition by Henley and Garcia. The student who has worked on the problems will find the solutions presented here a useful check on answers and procedures.

Symmetries and Fundamental Interactions in Nuclei

This book shows the usefulness of the nucleus as a laboratory for learning about basic symmetries and fundamental interactions. It is aimed at advanced graduate students and beginning researchers, but should be useful to advanced researchers as well. Nuclear and particle physicists will find it particularly useful.

Astrophysics And The Evolution Of The Universe (Second Edition)

The aim of this book is to teach undergraduate college or university students, and adults interested in astronomy and astrophysics, the basic mathematics and physics concepts needed to understand the evolution of the universe, and based on this to teach the astrophysical theories behind evolution from the very early times to the present. The book does not require extensive knowledge of mathematics, like calculus, and includes material that explains concepts such as velocity, acceleration, and force. Based on this, fascinating topics such as Dark Matter, measuring Dark Energy via supernovae velocities, and the creation of mass via the Higgs mechanism are explained. All college students with an interest in science, especially astronomy, without extensive mathematical backgrounds, should be able to use and learn from this book. Adults interested in topics like Dark Energy, the Higgs boson, and detection of Gravitational Waves, which are in the news, can make use of this book as well.

In Hospital

This early work by William Ernest Henley was originally published in 1903 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography. 'In Hospital' is a collection of poetry he wrote during a three year stay at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and is notable as one of the earliest examples of free verse written in England. William Ernest Henley was born on 23rd August 1849, in Gloucester, England. In 1867, Henley passed the Oxford Local Schools Examination and set off to London to establish himself as a journalist. Unfortunately, his career was frequently interrupted by long stays in hospital due to a diseased right foot which he refused to have amputated. Henley's best-remembered work is his poem "Invictus", written in 1888. It is a passionate and defiant poem, reportedly written as a demonstration of resilience following the amputation of his leg.
