Fifteen Seconds without Sorrow
Like many younger Korean poets, SHIM BO-SEON writes in an allusive, indirect style about topics that are in themselves familiar, eating rice, taking off clothes, living in an apartment block, struggling with human relationships. He captures some sparkling moments of joys and sorrows, hopes and frustrations that have been concealed in daily life in rather modest and witty words. The circular movements of concealment and revelation of the mystery that an individual experiences are evoked in turn, always lightly. As a poet-critic, Shim fills his lines with the melodies of plain speech, with subtle thoughts about relationships in the world. Shim made his poetic debut in 1994, but he only published his first collection fourteen years later in 2008. FIFTEEN SECONDS WITHOUT SORROW is a translation of that first volume, containing the poet’s earliest, freshest poems.

Moyamoya Disease Update
Moyamoya disease (MMD) was first reported as a new entity among vascular disorders in 1957. Named for the abnormal vascular networks found around the occluded distal internal carotid artery, it is the most common pediatric cerebrovascular disease in East Asia. In recent years large amounts of data on MMD have been collected and important investigations have been carried out in Japan and Korea, even as the pathophysiology of the disease remains to be discovered. This monograph covers a diversity of topics and presents a systematic compilation of the data and current status of MMD in clinical practice and basic research. With contributions by more than 70 authors, the book includes sections on genetics, computational analysis of hemodynamic shear stress, new imaging techniques, and endovascular treatment of MMD, along with practical applications and future directions for gene and stem cell therapies. For neurosurgeons as well as neurologists and pediatricians, this volume will help lead to more efficient and informed management of MMD.

The International Symposium on Medical Data Analysis is an important - riodical opportunity to exchange ideas and ?rst-hand experiences with groups interested in the medical applications of innovative hardware and software tools. The massive information available through continuous improvements in the various modeling approaches to Medical Data Analysis is re?ected in the - sults, dealing with quite di?erent topics, presented during the Third Edition of the Symposium (ISMDA 2002). NPC 2004
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the IFIP International Conference on Network and Parallel Computing, NPC 2004, held in Wuhan, China in October 2004. Also included are selected refereed papers from two workshops associated with NPC 2004. The 46 revised full papers and 23 revised short papers presented together with abstracts of 5 invited presentations were selected from a total of 338 submissions.
