Reading Kazuo Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go: The Alternative Dystopian Imagination aims to offer innovative perspectives for the analysis of Nobel-prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro’s oeuvre through a focus on the genre of science fiction, particularly the novel Never Let Me Go (2005). The study proposes the term "intimate dystopia" to reflect on the passage from totalitarian or external oppressive forces to more "subtle" systems of power. Its interdisciplinary approach combines, apart from literary theory on different genres such as science fiction and memory, race studies, feminism and ecocriticism. Examining the family saga as an instrument of literary analysis of writing by Italian American women, this book argues that the genre represents a key strategy for Italian American female writers as a form which distinctly allows them to establish cultural, gender and literary traditions. La confección de este Manual se propone introducir la enseñanza y el aprendizaje formal de la pronunciación dentro de las asignaturas de lengua inglesa de la Universidad de Cantabria. La aplicación de este Manual no se restringe a los estudios especializados (ej. al Grado de Estudios Ingleses o la Mención en Lengua Extranjera del Grado de Magisterio) sino que es transversal a cualquier asignatura que se imparta en inglés y resulta de interés para la inmersión lingüística como complemento a la instrucción académica dentro del aula.

This book shows how authors both recount the history of the migrant community in the period 1880-1980 while creatively experimenting with hybrid forms of expression and blending words with visuals. Literary Voices of the Italian Diaspora in Britain discusses topical issues like migration and social integration, cultures and foods in transition, as well as plurilingualism. The book pays special attention to discussions of the horrors of the Second World War – especially on the tragedy of the Arandora Star (2nd July 1940) – to show this literary community’s political commitments. Romantic Responses to Revolution through Miltonic Ideas of the Fall explores the influence of John Milton’s epic poem, Paradise Lost, on a range of Romantic and post-Romantic writers. Sex Work On Campus examines the experiences of college students engaged in sex work and sparks dialogue about the ways educators might develop a deeper appreciation for—and praxis of—equity and justice on campus. Analyzing a study conducted with seven college student sex workers, the book focuses on sex work histories, student motivations, and how power (or lack thereof) associated with social identity shape experiences of student sex work.
