The gathering and storage of data indexed in space and time are experiencing unprecedented growth, demanding for advanced and adapted tools to analyse them. This thesis deals with the exploration and modelling of complex high-frequency and non-stationary spatio-temporal data. It proposes an efficient framework in modelling with machine learning algorithms spatio-temporal fields measured on irregular monitoring networks, accounting for high dimensional input space and large data sets. The uncertainty quantification is enabled by specifying this framework with the extreme learning machine, a particular type of artificial neural network for which analytical results, variance estimation and conf...
The 13th International Conference on Geostatistics for Environmental Applications (geoENV2020) was scheduled in Parma, Italy on July 2020. The international health crisis affected the conference, which was initially postponed to June 2021 and eventually replaced by a one-day virtual event on June 18, 2021 with the presentations of the keynote lecturers. This book contains the abstracts and extended abstracts submitted to the conference and focusing on geostatistics applied to different fields such as: climate change, ecology, natural resources, forestry, agriculture, geostatistical theory and new methodologies, health, epidemiology, ecotoxicology, inverse modeling, multiple point geostatistics, remote sensing, soil applications, spatio-temporal processes and surface and subsurface hydrology. The Scientific Committee initially selected about 100 abstracts and 68 contributions were confirmed to be published in these proceedings. The next geoENV conference (geoENV2022) will be held in Parma, Italy on June 2022. We expect more colleagues from all over the world to join this international event next year.

In the late forties, Mathematical Programming became a scientific discipline in its own right. Since then it has experienced a tremendous growth. Beginning with economic and military applications, it is now among the most important fields of applied mathematics with extensive use in engineering, natural sciences, economics, and biological sciences. The lively activity in this area is demonstrated by the fact that as early as 1949 the first "Symposium on Mathe matical Programming" took place in Chicago. Since then mathematical programmers from all over the world have gath ered at the intfrnational symposia of the Mathematical Programming Society roughly every three years to present their rece...
Baroque oboists Bruce Haynes and Geoffrey Burgess established reputations as authorities on the history of their instrument with their co-authored book The Oboe, voted an outstanding achievement by the American Music Instrument Society. Haynes' writings, notably The End of Early Music, are known for pioneering new approaches in historical performance practice and inspiring healthy debate among scholars and performers of early music. Burgess, an instructor at the Eastman School of Music, recently published Well-Tempered Woodwinds: Friedrich von Huene and the Making of Early Music in a New World, which combines the biography of a leading manufacturer of historic instruments with a history of the emerging early music scene in America. Bruce Haynes passed away in May, 2011.
