Epistemic Justice and Creative Agency
Foundational theories of epistemic justice, such as Miranda Fricker's, have cited literary narratives to support their case. But why have those narratives in particular provided the resource that was needed? And is cultural production always supportive of epistemic justice? This essay collection, written by experts in literary, philosophical, and cultural studies working in conversation with each other across a range of global contexts, expands the emerging field of epistemic injustice studies. The essays analyze the complex relationship between narrative, aesthetics, and epistemic (in)justice, referencing texts, film, and other forms of cultural production. The authors present, without seeking to synthesize, perspectives on how justice and injustice are narratively and aesthetically produced. This volume by no means wants to say the last word on epistemic justice and creative agency. The intention is to open out a productive new field of study, at a time when understanding the workings of injustice and possibilities for justice seems an ever more urgent project.

Innsbruck im Aufbruch
Studierendenrevolte im Heiligen Land Tirol? Das Jahr 1968 steht weltweit für kulturellen Wandel und gesellschaftliche Erneuerung – auch in Österreich. Während Wien oft im Fokus steht, beleuchtet dieses Buch erstmals umfassend die vielfältige Studierendenbewegung in Innsbruck. Es dokumentiert die Konflikte um universitäre Mitbestimmung, die Kritik an Autoritäten wie dem Bischof, antirassistische Aktionen, Hausbesetzungen, Proteste gegen den Vietnamkrieg, autonome Kulturinitiativen und vieles mehr. Obwohl die Proteste in Innsbruck weniger intensiv waren als in anderen Hochburgen, hinterließen sie doch einen nachhaltigen Eindruck und trugen zur Veränderung des Status quo bei. Geprägt von den spezifischen gesellschaftlichen Verhältnissen in Tirol und internationalen Einflüssen, spiegelt der Aufbruch in Innsbruck sowohl lokale als auch globale Dynamiken wider. Ein unverzichtbares Werk für alle, die die 68er-Bewegung abseits der bekannten Zentren entdecken möchten.

Die Autor*innen des Jahrbuchs 2024 des DÖW (Widerstände. Impulse für die Widerstandsforschung) thematisieren Definitionen, Formen und Motive von Widerstand gegen den Nationalsozialismus. Die Sondierungen mit unterschiedlich breitem Widerstandsbegriff drehen sich um die individuelle Entscheidung zum Widerstand, den parteipolitisch organisierten Kampf und den Eigensinn, Deserteure und queere Formen der Gegner*innenschaft, Widerstand in den Lagern, Ghettos und im Exil, Handlungsmacht und Handlungsspielräume, sowie Quellen zur Erforschung und Aufgaben der Vermittlung. Der Band ist Ergebnis des internationalen Symposiums zum 60. Gründungsjubiläum des DÖW in Wien.
