In a critique of Heidegger that respects his path of thinking, Francisco Gonzalez looks at the ways in which Heidegger engaged with Plato’s thought over the course of his career and concludes that, owing to intrinsic requirements of Heidegger’s own philosophy, he missed an opportunity to conduct a real dialogue with Plato that would have been philosophically fruitful for us all. Dialectic and Dialogue
Dialectic and Dialogue seeks to define the method and the aims of Plato's dialectic in both the "inconclusive" dialogues and the dialogues that describe and practice a method of hypothesis. Departing from most treatments of Plato, Gonzalez argues that the philosophical knowledge at which dialectic aims is nonpropositional, practical, and reflexive. The result is a reassessment of how Plato understood the nature of philosophy.

Francisco Gonzalez reflects on growing up in El Salvador during its civil war (1980 - 1992), including curfews, restrictions to electricity and water, and access to medical care. He talks about his education and starting a career as a journalist and photographer, the 2001 earthquake, and decision to obtain temporary protective status, then legal residency, in the United States. He continues with the furthering of his education and success as a journalist and photographer, and his career as a journalism professor at Brookhaven College, along with his service in the Texas State Guard, and gives his perspective on immigration debates in the United States.

On a cold January morning in 2013, smelling of petrol and still with the taste of the last beer he had drunk, Paco González was sitting in his garage at home with an iPad in his hand, looking for a pair of carbon fiber slip-ons for his Yamaha R1 as he wanted to replace the ones that came as standard on the bike, which were made of titanium. In the spring he was going to go to the Albacete circuit with his friend José Miguel, and of course, he wanted to use them for the first time there. He found a wide variety of models on European websites, but a much wider range on North American ones, with the added attraction that prices were close to 50% cheaper. Obviously, he opted for a model he found on a North American website, but when he went to buy them, he was unable to do so for different reasons.
