The Mission of Development
The Mission of Development interrogates the complex relationships between Christian mission and international development in Asia from the 19th century to the new millennium. Through historically and ethnographically grounded case studies, contributors examine how missionaries have adapted to and shaped the age of development and processes of ‘technocratisation’, as well as how mission and development have sometimes come to be cast in opposition. The volume takes up an increasingly prominent strand in contemporary research that reverses the prior occlusion of the entanglements between religion and development. It breaks new ground through its analysis of the techno-politics of both development and mission, and by focusing on the importance of engagements and encounters in the field in Asia.

Catholics in Independent Indonesia: 1945-2010
Catholics in Independent Indonesia: 1945-2010 concludes Steenbrink’s three volume historical account of Catholicism in Indonesia with a detailed report of the survival and growth of this minority religion in Muslim Indonesia since its independence in 1945. Colonial Catholicism survived in the independent Republic of Indonesia during the nationalist Sukarno regime (1945-1965) and regained a new dynamic during the general religious revival that was part of the New Order of Soeharto after 1965. From a Dutch-inspired institution it became a fully Indonesian steered community with a modern and international character. The second half of the book will deal with the different regional developments in this vast country.

Dalam era yang semakin terglobalisasi seperti sekarang ini, penting bagi kita untuk menjalin pemahaman dan kerjasama antaragama. Beriman Tangguh dan Solider
Dalam hidup keseharian sebagai seorang beriman Katolik, kita mendapat tugas perutusan untuk hidup bersama dengan orang lain. Dalam kebersamaan dengan sesama itu, ada banyak hal yang berbeda memperkaya pengalaman hidup kita. Namun, semua itu tidak menjadi kendala untuk membangun kebersamaan yang harmonis. Agar hidup bersama terus terjalin baik, kita juga perlu meningkatkan hidup beriman sebagai murid Kristus yang setia. Buku berjudul “Beriman Tangguh dan Solider: Katekese Membina Murid-Murid Misioner” ini mengupas tiga isu penting. Ketiganya dijalin melalui sharing pengalaman dari seluruh umat se-Indonesia. Ketiga isu itu adalah: upaya membangun moderasi beragama, hidup dalam Masyarakat di Tengah budaya digital, dan kehidupan umat setelah (post) pandemi Covid-19. Dari pengalaman berbagi berdasarkan ketiga isu itu akan ditarik aneka masukan untuk meningkatkan wawasan tentang katekese membina murid-murid misioner. Selanjutnya, diharapkan terbangun gerakan-gerakan aksi nyata dan kegiatan katekese yang mampu membina murid-murid misioner yang beriman tangguh dan solider.

Buku ini mengupas hakikat dan makna mbaru gendang serta perubahan dan transformasi fungsi, peran, dan kedudukannya dari masa ke masa. Buku ini buah dari penelitian etnografis mendalam, panjang, dan lama yang dilakukan oleh dua akademisi yang juga adalah orang Manggarai. Buku ini cocok menjadi referensi bagi mereka yang belajar budaya pada umumnya dan etnografi orang Manggarai di NTT khususnya.
