Buku ini merupakan hasil riset yang dilakukan di perbatasan antara Indonesia dan Malaysia di Kalimantar Barat. Kajian ini didasari oleh isu pembangunan kawasan perbatasan, isu kepunahan kebudayaan dan nilai-nilai budaya serta isu klaim kebudayaan dan nilai budaya. Selain itu, keberadaan Suku Bidayuh yang tersebar di Indonesia dan Malaysia menjadi menarik untuk dikaji. Di Indonesia terdapat Bidayh Sontas yang merupakan asal nenek moyang Bidayuh Entubuh yang ada di Malaysia. Bidayuh Sontas dan Bidayuh Entubuh memiliki sistem kekerabatan yang sama dan sangat memelihara ikatan kekerabatan di antara mereka. Kehadiran negara dan perbedaan kewarganegaraan tidak menjadi halangan bagi mereka untuk terus menjadi satu keluarga.
JELAJAH BUDAYA NUSANTARA
Nusantara identik dengan keluasan, kekayaan, dan keragaman nilai-nilai budaya yang didukung oleh masyarakatnya dari Sabang hingga Papua. Salah satu kekayaan itu berupa budaya lokal yang dipaktikkan oleh masyarakat pengusungnya, misalnya masyarakat Sunda, Jawa, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Aceh, Tapanuli, Dayak, Ambon hingga Papua. Kekayaan budaya daerah identik dengan kekayaan lokal dan ekspresi rupa yang indah. Bila digambarkan dalam peta Indonesia maka akan tampil sebagai mozaik yang bervariasi dan indah gemerlap
Ekonomi Sumberdaya Pesisir yang Tercemar
Pesisir merupakan sumberdaya akses terbuka yang tidak memiliki status kepemilikan, sehingga tidak ada aturan yang mengatur mengenai hak dan kewajiban. Dengan demikian kelembagaan (aturan main rule of the game) dalam pemanfaatan wilayah pesisir sulit ditegakkan (enforce ability). Kerusakan lingkungan pesisir dan laut ini telah berdampak pada penurunan dan kerugian pada aspek ekonomi, baik untuk masa saat ini maupun di masa yang akan datang. Buku ini mengulas dampak kerusakan lingkungan terhadap perekonomian masyarakat pesisir dan konflik yang terjadi. Analisis yang di dasarkan dari hasil riset Penulis, menghasilkan rekomendasi kebijakan yang aplikatif. Plurality and Christian Ethics
Too many parts of the world testify to the difficulties religions have in tolerating each other. It is often concluded that the only way tolerance and plurality can be protected is to keep religion out of the public sphere. Ian Markham challenges this secularist argument. In the first half of the book, he advances a careful critique of European culture which exposes the problem of plurality. His analysis of the Christendom Group is contrasted with the outlook found in the USA, where a religiously informed culture may be seen to be tolerant. In the second half of the book, the author argues that plurality is better safeguarded by a theistic, rather than a secularist, foundation. He submits that too often secularists use relativist arguments, while theists want to appeal to the complexity of God's world. He concludes that in our post-modern world the religious affirmation of diversity offers genuine political possibilities for cultural enrichment.
