Where Dream Reveals
Pratim, chief protagonist of this novel, used to excogitate issues like human aging and death, since his childhood. Eventually, he went on to become a renowned geneticist. One night, he had a dream in which he saw elderly and senior people, ailing or in good health--in an unknown place that seemed so similar to his own locality--were having their ages reduced to thirty-five. Coincidentally or not, he met an old man, Arthur, near his residence, next morning, who gave him a bottle of youth potion, whose effect would last for five years only. His fifty-year old uncle, Mohit, had fallen a victim of a mysterious disease of aging that made him look like an old man of seventy-five. One day when the doctor gave the final word about his uncle, Pratim, in a dead hurry made the patient drink the entire potion, in Sulata's presence despite latter's deadliest of objections.
