Khmer Concrete' investigates what remains of Cambodia?s post-independence architectural heritage and how it still retains its poetic power in contemporary Cambodia. The development of an independent intellectual and cultural elite was seen as crucial to maintaining Cambodia?s international status and independence in the years after 1953. In addition to architecture, a vibrant art and culture scene developed which sought to express itself on the international stage. All this came to an end, however, when the Khmer Rouge seized power and laid waste to the countryside and cities of Cambodia between 1975 and 1980. Khmer Concrete explores the forgotten legacy of these buildings and their place in modern Cambodia.

Since the early eighties, Gerry Johansson has made quiet pictures of quiet places, often lying in the shadows of industrial decline. For 'American Winter', Johansson travelled through semi-deserted towns in Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado, finding as much beauty as there was misery in landscapes cloaked in snow: an isolated church floating in a mottled sea of white; leafless trees lining endless highways leading to nothing; long shadows cast on vernacular architecture in the season's merciless sun. In his photographs time appears to stand still: neighbourhoods that once possessed the allure of Art Deco architecture, or the glory of bustling Main Streets, are now home to abandoned school buildings and cars parked decades ago. The picturesque vistas and apparent stability of Switzerland have made it an elusive subject for contemporary photography. Over a five-year period (2014-2019), Cole found a distinctly new way to look at a country that has been the quintessence of tourist experience for almost two centuries. Fernweh muses on the German word for a longing to be elsewhere. Cole's meditative and scrupulously composed work, made with colour film, is evocative of the hidden history of the Alpine nation as well as of its highly curated terrain. Returning to Switzerland year after year, Cole shares the patience and mild palette of luminaries of contemporary European photography - but the constructivist tension in these images is all his own. With photographs shot in every corner of the country - from Vaud to Graubünden to Lugano - Fernweh creates a vision of Switzerland that, though largely devoid of human presence, is rich in human traces; none more so than Cole's own distinct way of seeing. --
The Locusts is the first monograph by photographer and publisher Jesse Lenz. His images transport the reader to rural Ohio where his children run wild in the fields, build forts in the attic, and fall asleep surrounded by lightsabers and superheroes. The microcosmic worlds of plants, insects, animals, and children create a brooding landscape where dichotomies of nature play out in front of his growing family. The backyard becomes a labyrinth of passages as the children experience the cycles of birth and death in the changing seasons. The Locusts depicts a world in which beautiful and terrible things will happen, but offers grace and healing within the brokenness and imperfection of life.
