Il presente volume si pone in continuità con i precedenti nel tentativo di presentare la storia della Chiesa riminese dal secondo decennio del Cinquecento sino all’età napoleonica. La storia riminese, anche per questo periodo, è stata già fatta oggetto di una serie di studi. Sul loro solco, si cerca qui di proporre le vicende in un’aggiornata prospettiva unitaria e sintetica, con uno stile divulgativo ma garantendo comunque un’accurata analisi scientifica, secondo il taglio già collaudato nei due precedenti volumi dedicati all’età antica e all’età medievale. La struttura di questo terzo volume dedicato all’età moderna si apre, come i precedenti, con due utili apparati dedicati rispettivamente alla cronologia essenziale ed alla cronotassi episcopale. Si presenta quindi articolato in due parti: una prima parte di carattere istituzionale più generale (le grandi questioni e scansioni temporali interne) ed una seconda parte in cui trovano spazio approfondimenti su temi e ambiti più specifici.
