While Walking in the Way of the Word

Depending on the reason for taking a walk, much can be learned as we move ourselves forward one step at a time. Some of those walks take us into a forest of trees where we enjoy the scenery; some are an exercise for our health; some are just for the fresh air at a park. At some point these walks come to an end and we turn around, retracing our steps. But in the way of the Word, there remains another walk; one that is to be spiritual in nature. This is the walk of the Holy Spirit as He guides us in the way of the Word. No outdoors are needed; we might sit, walk, ride, or stand as He teaches and shelters us on the way. Neither is there a place for turning back. This walk is one of moving forward. This is not a 1, 2, 3, "how to" type of book you've opened. These are truths/thoughts being shared from more than a half century's walk while "listening" to His Word. Though collected over a long period of time, they are still alive with meaning, needed and studied now in "such a time as this."

The Camels Are Coming

The twenty-fourth chapter of Genesis contains a timeless tale of a father, his son, a bride, and the servant who guides her. It is where we find the account of Rebekah's journey to her betrothed, Isaac, across wide and uncertain terrain. But this story is much more than a biblical history lesson. It is also a retelling and foretelling of our own Spirit-led trek toward the Sonatop some unsightly and uncomfortable, but nonetheless God-ordained, beasts of burden. In The Camels Are Coming, read what Nelson learned about why God allows us to experience troubles and how He desires to bring us through them.

The Economics and Business of Sustainability

Given the emergence of sustainability as the defining issue of our time, it is essential for university graduates, and especially business and economics students, to have a fundamental grasp of the key issues in this emerging multidisciplinary field of study. Nemetz provides a comprehensive, detailed overview of the interlinked economic and ecological concepts central to this new discipline. Accompanying the introduction of the underlying theory is a broad array of real-world supporting data from Asia, Europe and North America. This volume also features a chapter on the threat of emerging pandemics and their significance for the achievement of a truly sustainable world. This book accentuates the value and importance of a strong sustainability approach in an age of climate change emergency. It is an ideal companion for instructors and students of sustainability in business, economics and related disciplines such as geography and political science.

Britain's Black Past

Britain's Black Past

Expanding upon the 2017 Radio 4 series ‘Britain’s Black Past’, this book presents those stories and analyses through the lens of a recovered past. Even those who may be familiar with some of the materials will find much that they had not previously known, and will be introduced to people, places, and stories brought to light by new research. In a time of international racial unrest and migration, it is important not to lose sight of similar situations that took place in an earlier time. In chapters written by scholars, artists, and independent researchers, readers will learn of an early musician, the sales of slaves in Scotland, the grave—now a shrine—of a black enslaved boy left to die in Morecombe Bay, of a country estate owned by a mixed-race slave owner, and of the two strikingly different people who lived in a Bristol house that is now a museum. Black sailors, political activists, memoirists, appear in these pages, but the book also re-examines living history, in the form of modern plays, television programmes, and genealogical sleuthing. Through them, Britain’s Black Past is not only presented anew, but shown to be very much alive in our own time.
