The exhibition "Theater and Mysticism. Baroque Sculpture between West and East" is one of the events of an international cultural program "The Year of Baroque in Central Europe. 1992-1993" organized under the auspices of the Prime Ministers of Austria, Bohemia, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia in order to remember the nations of Central Europe their common, centuries-long past. [...] The Poznań exhibition is entirely devoted to one of the most distinct media of baroque culture, i.e. figural sculpture. We are presenting an ample selection of the baroque sculpture which is hardly known to the common public - the works from two artistic regions, Silesia and Eastern Małopolska, two areas of cultural contacts typical of that part of Europe. -- from book flap.
