As the customer is demanding more sustainable and affordable products, the supply chains have to find innovative ways to fulfill this need. In this context, collaboration as well as optimization methods are becoming even more evident to enhance supply chain structure to an efficient and sustainable approach. While collaboration and optimization increase complexity and susceptibility, risk management needs to be applied concurrently. This volume, edited by Wolfgang Kersten, Thorsten Blecker and Christian Ringle, provides valuable insights into: - Sustainability in Logistics - Sustainability and collaboration practices - Supply chain risk management - Optimization methods in supply chain management. This volume addresses timely and relevant topics. Both researchers and practitioners are addressed and can obtain background information from current distributions by international authors presenting a state of the art research overview.
This book reports on cutting-edge theories and methods for analyzing complex systems, such as transportation and communication networks and discusses multi-disciplinary approaches to dependability problems encountered when dealing with complex systems in practice. The book presents the most relevant findings discussed at the 22nd International Multidisciplinary Conference on Reliability and Statistics in Transportation and Communication (RelStat), which took place on October 20 – 21, 2022, in Riga, Latvia, in hybrid mode. It spans a broad spectrum of advanced theories and methods, giving a special emphasis to the integration of artificial intelligent concepts into reliability approaches.
This is an open access book. Business Innovation and Engineering Conference 2022 brings together contributions from students and scientists dealing with different aspects of business innovation and management, and we believe that there is also an equal number of promising study projects and prospectus results. The conference will be held at School of Business, IPB University, Bogor, Indonesia at August 11-12, 2022. This conference is held with the goals of: 1. Exchanging information on recent research issues related to business innovation, and engineering in Southeast Asia and the world in general; 2. Expanding international cooperation network; 3. Generating internationally reputable and nationally accredited publications; and 4. Initiating Business Innovation and Engineering (BIEC) as a communication forum related to business innovation, and engineering in Southeast Asia.
This book presents the conference proceedings of the 25th edition of the International Joint Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management. The conference is organized by 6 institutions (from different countries and continents) that gather a large number of members in the field of operational management, industrial engineering and engineering management. This edition of the conference had the title: THE NEXT GENERATION OF PRODUCTION AND SERVICE SYSTEMS in order to emphasis unpredictable and very changeable future. This conference is aimed to enhance connection between academia and industry and to gather researchers and practitioners specializing in operation management, industrial engineering, engineering management and other related disciplines from around the world.
At a time of growing environmental concerns and an urgent need for sustainable solutions, the intersection of blockchain technology and environmental sustainability is emerging as a powerful force for positive change. The environmental challenges of our time, including climate change, resource scarcity and the destruction of ecosystems, require innovative solutions that transcend geographical and political boundaries. Blockchain technology, with its decentralized and transparent nature, can not only track and verify environmental efforts, but also incentivize them.
Energy Transformation towards Sustainability explores how researchers, businesses and policymakers can explore and usefully improve energy systems and energy consumption behavior, both to reflect the reality of climate change and related environmental degradation and to adapt to the expanding periphery of renewable energy technologies. It introduces the reader to a suite of potential policy pathways to the necessary transformation in societal energy consumption, usage and behavior. Solutions discussed include energy efficiency, energy security, the role of political leadership, green public policy, and the transition to renewable energy sources. International contributions address the range and depth of current research from a position of advocacy for 'energy stewardship' as the driver of this transformation. Case studies illustrate the range of various countries to diminish energy use. Finally, policy avenues are covered in depth.
