Education and Development in Early Years From Cultural-historical Theory
Cultural-historical theory addresses issues of child development through acquisition of cultural experience as a process of complex cultural activity and thus makes an emphasis on educational process as structured way of learning. Research issues that are raised starting from works of Vygotsky and his followers are connected with educational environment, instruction possibilities and effectiveness, relations of play and education, cognition and emotion in educational process, etc. For the past 40 years special attention in terms of practical application was devoted to elaboration of methods that are used for measuring effectiveness of educational environment (for example, CLASS, ECERS), structural changes in consciousness of a child (for example, executive functions research, research of organization of play activity and development of symbolic function).

The Changed Life: How COVID-19 Affected People's Psychological Well-Being, Feelings, Thoughts, Behavior, Relations, Language and Communication
Covid-19 changed the lives of millions of people around the world. The effects of the global pandemic on the physical and psychological health of individuals, as well as on their behavioral habits, relationships, and the way they communicate, do not seem to be only short- or medium-term, but, on the contrary, appear to be long-lasting. In the same way that it is possible to use the term “long-covid” to refer to the long-term effects on the physical health of individuals who have contracted the virus, so we think it is possible to use the expression 'psychological long-covid' to indicate the long-term effects on the psychological health of individuals, not only of those who have been infected, but more generally of all those who have had to cope with social restrictions, lockdowns, distancing, remote work and learning, etc. imposed by the pandemic. At the same time, many people demonstrated resilience, as the capacity to cope with adverse events through positive adaptation.
Vygotsky’s Notebooks
This book consists of previously unpublished manuscripts by Vygotsky found in the first systematic study of Vygotsky’s family archive. The notebooks and scientific diaries gathered in this volume represent all periods of Vygotsky’s scientific life, beginning with the earliest manuscript, entitled The tragicomedy of strivings (1912), and ending with his last note, entitled Pro domo sua (1934), written shortly before his death. The notes reveal unknown aspects of the eminent psychologist’s personality, show his aspirations and interests, and allow us to gain insights into the development of his thinking and its internal dynamics. Several texts reflect the plans that Vygotsky was unable to realize during his lifetime, such as the creation of a theory of emotions and a theory of consciousness, others reveal Vygotsky’s involvement in activities that were previously unknown, and still others provide outlines of papers and lectures. The notes are presented in chronological order, preceded by brief introductions and accompanied by an extensive set of notes. The result is a book that allows us to obtain a much deeper understanding of Vygotsky’s innovative ideas.
