This book presents new circuits and systems for implantable biomedical applications targeting neural recording. The authors describe a system design adapted to conform to the requirements of an epilepsy monitoring system. Throughout the book, these requirements are reflected in terms of implant size, power consumption, and data rate. In addition to theoretical background which explains the relevant technical challenges, the authors provide practical, step-by-step solutions to these problems. Readers will gain understanding of the numerical values in such a system, enabling projections for feasibility of new projects.

Although many scholars and practitioners recognize that development and conflict are intertwined, there is much less understanding of the mechanisms behind these linkages. This book takes a new approach by critically examining how various development strategies provoke or help prevent intrastate violence, based on cases from all developing regions.

Over the last three decades, historic housing areas have become one of the major concerns in urban regeneration, housing renovation and conservation projects. Since the late 1990s, the notion of community, sustainability and sustainable community have become rising issues in the urban regeneration debate. Regeneration, Heritage and Sustainable Communities in Turkey contributes to this debate by integrating the interplay between regeneration, community needs and sustainability in the context of Istanbul. Together with the relational, multi-scalar and contingency planning approaches, these vital agents of regeneration provide new possibilities and creative opportunities to successfully deal with the uncertainties and complexities in evolving regeneration spaces. The interdisciplinary text reasons that finding the balance between the needs, aspirations and concerns of local communities and the conservation of the built environments will lead to more equitable and sustainable solutions to the problems faced in Istanbul’s historic quarters.
In this book, several advanced topics in the area of Power Management Analog and Mixed-Signal Circuits and Systems have been addressed. The fundamental aspects of these topics are discussed, and state-of-the-art developments are presented. The book covers subject areas like bio-sensors co-integration with nanotechnology, and for these CMOS circuits one popular application could be personalized medicine. Having seen the power assets for such technologies, and knowing what challenges these present for the circuits and systems designer, remote powering and sensors solutions are reviewed in the second chapter. The third chapter contains an industrial contribution on remote powering, presenting e...
Polymeric Membrane Formation by Phase Inversion brings together for the first time analysis of all the four main phase inversion techniques. Effective parameters in each technique are covered together with the methodologies needed to prepare advanced membranes for specific separations in both liquid and gas phases. Roll-to-roll casting, spinning hollow fiber, and electrospinning nanofibers are presented, along with an analysis of the impact of solvent toxicity, membrane production, and the source of raw materials on the environment. Describing a road map for designing different morphological characteristics to prepare specific membranes for special applications, the merits and disadvantages ...
