The book discusses scientific, technical, and sociological aspects of sustainable agricultural value chains, focusing on coffee and tea production. The book advocates a value-chain strategy and highlights the importance of tracking the effects of climate change. Increasing the amount of value-added products via irrigation is critical to combating climate change and achieving sustainable development. Furthermore, blockchain technology has the potential to transform agricultural business models and supply chain networks.

This book provides insights into the experiences of women with physical, mental or sensory disability in terms of their social relationships and social participation, as well as the barriers and facilitators of their physical and social environments in that respect. It will be of interest to academics, health professionals, researchers, and other experts in the field, in addition to persons with disabilities who are exploring ways to overcome barriers they might be facing in terms of social participation. The book includes perspectives of women with disability on social relationships and social participation, as well as an extensive exploration of the current scientific literature. The points made here will contribute to the discussion around the full integration of persons with disabilities, by removing barriers to their social participation and autonomy, together with the strengthening of their social relationships and the social support they receive.
The current eco-efficiency research in the literature is static, ignoring the intertemporal component of production decisions. Our research adds to the existing body of knowledge on this topic by dynamically modelling the eco-efficiency scores of dairy farms in a parametric frontier framework that accounts for GHG emissions. In this paper, eco-efficiency scores are derived from a production function with both a random intercept and random slope parameters, which overcome the problem of unobserved heterogeneity in stochastic frontier analysis. The study used 30 years of unbalanced panel data from 692 specialist dairy farms (1991-2020). The generalized method of moment estimation is used to compute dynamic boundaries. On the eco-efficiency scale, the dynamic model scored 0.94, while the static model estimated 0.90. Researchers who want to evaluate the farm's eco-efficiency and provide policymakers with advice should look at the dynamic perspective, since there is a statistical difference between the two estimations.
Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders can be both devastating and long-lasting, and are associated with significant individual, familial, and societal costs. Schizophrenia is one of the top ten leading causes of disability world-wide, and yet the overwhelming majority of research is conducted in populations in the Global North (North America, Europe, and Australia - together comprising only around 16% of the world's population). Psychosis: Global Perspectives synthesises the existing research in non-western countries to provide detailed accounts of ongoing research programmes, local treatment systems, cultural contexts, and the lived experience of psychosis across nine countries in the Global South, setting the findings in frameworks of relevant current evidence from the Global North where appropriate. It features a critical review of the literature on specific aspects of psychosis, from phenomenology to mental health services and systems, to provide a solid background on the subject. Academically rigorous yet accessibly written, this new title addresses the substantial inequalities in literature and attention in the global understanding of psychotic disorders.

This book explores Nigeria’s progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, presenting key country-specific lessons, as well as providing innovative solutions and practices which are transferrable to other emerging economies. Despite all of Nigeria’s potential, and substantial oil revenues, poverty remains widespread and the country faces many challenges. The contributors to this book provide comparative historical and contemporary analysis of the main challenges for achieving progress in the SDGs, and make recommendations for the most effectives ways of developing, adopting, disseminating and scaling them. Starting with the conceptualisation and evolution of the SDGs, the...
This book analyzes schizophrenia management in the context of recent clinical therapeutic advances that have transformed the measurements and outcomes landscape. Unlike any other resource, this volume carefully develops the social and clinical guidelines that affect the life of the patient and defines its role in schizophrenia treatment outcomes. The text begins by determining the concepts, development, neuroscience, and guidelines for positive outcomes before analyzing the gaps in the literature. The text addresses medical concerns in relation to outcomes in schizophrenic patients, including substance use, impact from antipsychotic medications, and medical comorbidities. The text also cover...
