Novel Translational Advances in Hemodynamics for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases
Currently, hemodynamically guided diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases has vastly improved morbidity and mortality. However, many challenges remain, such as the increasing complexity of patients' conditions, the uneven level of overall treatment, the heavy task of medical and nursing staff in treating patients, and the accelerated updating and iteration of new technologies in the discipline. In clinic settings, obtaining direct clinical access of hemodynamic parameters remains challenging, mainly due to the potential risks of invasive measurements and expensive medical costs. Numerous experimental and simulation methods have been developed to address this deficiency to achieve noninvasive detection of hemodynamics. Two commonly utilized techniques are the representative particle image velocimetry (PIV) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Midkine: From Embryogenesis to Pathogenesis and Therapy
Carl Edward Sagan’s (1934-1996) one of the famous quotation was “Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people.“ From past to date, well-known molecules, enzymes, proteins, lipids and carbohydrates are studied in the pathogenesis of several diseases both as a diagnostic/prognostic biomarker and therapeutic agent. The underlying mechanism of unexplained diseases and failure of therapies are frequently studied with well-known biomarkers, but remain unclear in many cases. As Dr. Sagan said other keys are still waiting to be known in some forgotten corner of a body universe, we find strength to propose that one of them can be the growth factor with cytokine activity named “Midkine” This book summarizes the extensive up-to-date literature overeview with the lastest work of experts about midkine in a detailed format that conveys its role as both a pathologic factor and therapeutic agent.
Emergency Surgery Course (ESC®) Manual
This manual explains how to make the right decisions on the timing and selection of investigations and surgical procedures in emergency and urgent surgical settings and describes the most widely used procedures step by step with the aid of high-quality illustrations. The goal is to address the situations that can arise in almost any emergency department throughout the world, enabling the surgeon on call to acquire or sharpen the knowledge and skills needed to deal with acute surgical problems in the most appropriate way. The reader will gain a sound understanding of the most efficient diagnostic modalities, pre-, intra-, and postoperative decision-making, and surgical techniques and issues in particular circumstances. The manual stems from an initiative by members of the European Society of Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES) and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST) to set up and formalize Emergency Surgery Courses to provide specific training in emergency and acute care surgery. It represents a didactic accompaniment to the course that will guide the beginner and maintain a certain degree of standardization among the more experienced.
