Hanna Kay describes her journal, begun in summer 2003, as a dialogue between one and oneself. She says: 'Keeping a journal is like meeting this person inside me head-on'. And that person is an artist whose journal helps the reader understand something of the way an artist thinks. Both her journal and the paintings produced in her studio measure the passing of the seasons and the artist's emotional empathy with the Australian landscape the and living things about her as she responds to the seasonal changes wrought by Nature. She says: 'The locals [in rural NSW] refer to my Studio as "the shed". For me the 200 square metres framed by iron-bark posts and corrugated iron, is a sanctuary in which I dare to experiment, question, or be idle. The solid structure and the five acres that surround it protect me from the world's follies.' Her observations of the environment are recorded poetically, her own musing interspersed with references to world literature. The book is dedicated: 'To Nature, while she's still around'.
One hundred feet above the Delaware River is Merchantville, a spirited community founded in 1874. Many wealthy Philadelphia merchants established residences while others summered in this key South Jersey center for goods and services. In 1926, the building of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge opened the door to a new era of expansion, which continues today, as Merchantville forges ahead on its prosperous path. A sign of Merchantville's past and a crowning jewel of today is the wonderful Victorian architecture seen throughout town. Many historical homes still stand, lovingly restored and maintained by enthusiastic, caring residents. Merchantville includes a look at these great homes, as well as a chronicle of the town's greatest asset, its people. Boxing champion Jersey Joe Walcott, born in 1914 in Merchantville, trained right in the center of town; Jane Eayre Fryer wrote the Mary Frances series for young girls (1911-1918); and Wallis Warfield Simpson, later the Duchess of Windsor, visited Merchantville c. 1900. But everyday life and everyday residents are what make any study of history vital, and they are what make Merchantville so outstanding.

In 1957, a handsome gardener named Clayton Boone is hired by James Whale, the director of Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and The Invisible Man. Whale slowly exposes Boone to a world he's never before seen, while staging a plot with the young man at its center—not a plot of seduction, but something darker. Gods and Monsters, the Academy Award®-winning screenplay by Bill Condon, is adapted from the novel Father of Frankenstein by Christopher Bram.
