Schumann Orchestral Music
This BBC Music Guide is devoted to Schumann's orchestral works. His symphonies and piano concerto are a regular part of the concert repertory, but the author covers all Schumann's output for orchestra, including the violin and cello concertos, the overtures and the Konzerstück. The author was born near Vienna in 1890 and was a lecturer in music at Vienna University. The author came to Britain in 1938 and settled in Edinburgh, where he was a lecturer at the university until his retirement.
