Offers a practical introduction to the various basic methods of assessing the properties of soil. Each method is explained in a concise and accessible manner, providing useful guidance on how each method might be used in a practical situation.
This is the second of three volumes containing the proceedings of the International Colloquium 'Free Boundary Problems: Theory and Applications', held in Montreal from June 13 to June 22, 1990. The main theme of this volume is the concept of free boundary problems associated with solids. The first free boundary problem, the freezing of water - the Stefan problem - is the prototype of solidification problems which form the main part of this volume. The two sections treting this subject cover a large variety of topics and procedures, ranging from a theoretical mathematical treatment of solvability to numerical procedures for practical problems. Some new and interesting problems in solid mechanics are discussed in the first section while in the last section the important new subject of solid-solid-phase transition is examined.
Comprises, chiefly, bibliography of books and journals on education in India and abroad; includes brief history of the University Grants Commission in India.
In this book! Neuroanatomy and the Neurologic Exam is an innovative, comprehensive thesaurus that surveys terminology from neuroanatomy and the neurologic examination, as well as related general terms from neurophysiology, neurohistology, neuroembryology, neuroradiology, and neuropathology. The author prepared the thesaurus by examining how terms were used in a large sample of recent, widely used general textbooks in basic neuroanatomy and clinical neurology. These textbooks were written by experts who received their primary professional training in 13 different countries, allowing the thesaurus to incorporate synonyms and conflicting definitions that occur as a result of variations in terminology used in other countries. The thesaurus contains:
This Monograph contains a collection of problems arising in partial differential equations investigated by means of complex analysis approached in elementary ways.
Arelatively new field of modern analysis lying in between differential equations and C * algebras.
In this volume various applications are discussed, in particular to the hyper-Bessel differential operators and equations, Dzrbashjan-Gelfond-Leontiev operators and Borel type transforms, convolutions, new representations of hypergeometric functions, solutions to classes of differential and integral equations, transmutation method, and generalized integral transforms. Some open problems are also posed. This book is intended for graduate and post-graduate students, lecturers, researchers and others working in applied mathematical analysis, mathematical physics and related disciplines.
Distributed to some depository libraries in microfiche.
An introductory exposition of the study of operator theory, presenting an interesting and rapid approach to some results which are not normally treated in an introductory source. The volume includes recent results and coverage of the current state of the field.
