The Outset of Dissension in Islam
This is a lecture delivered by Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad(ra), second Successor of the Promised Messiah(as). The primary purpose of this lecture was to provide a correct and accurate historical account of the conflicts which arose most prominently during the Khilafat of Hazrat Uthman(ra). In this lecture, Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad(ra)has shed light on the life of Hazrat Uthman(ra), his piety and righteousness, and his status in the eyes of the Holy Prophet(sa). Moreover, he has expounded upon the virtues of the companions of the Holy Prophet(sa) and has explained how conflicts actually arose in the early period of Islam. Moreover, he has refuted various allegations levelled against the person of Hazrat Uthman(ra) and his companions. The lecture is an academic masterpiece of scholarship and explains the events of the era of the third Khilafat in a manner that no other historian has been able to match, be it Muslim or non-Muslim; all this is done in an an eloquent, academic, yet simple manner, in the form of an interesting narrative.
Remembrance of Allah
This is an English rendering of a speech delivered by Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Deen Mahmood Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih II(ra) during the Annual Conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community on December 28, 1916 and reprinted in Urdu as Dhikri-Ilahi by the Fazl-e-Umar Foundation (Rabwah, December 1982). Dhikri-Ilahi shows a true understanding of the relationship between Allah, the Creator, and human beings in their search of Him. It is replete with points of wisdom on how that relationship can be nurtured through Dhikri-Ilahi — Remembrance of Allah. Before the Holy Prophet Muhammad's arrival, a woman was regarded as man's slave and property, and no religion or nation could offer the woman rights and freedom. When their husbands died, they were forced to marry relatives or sold for money. There was no law that could protect them. Prophet Muhammad proclaimed in the name of God that men and women are equal. He declared that a man does not own his wife. He may not sell or force her into slavery. The teaching of the Holy Prophet raised the status of women as being not only equal to men, but also gave them freedom for social, physical and spiritual development. This book is about women's rights and freedom in Islam and shows that Holy Prophet Muhammad was indeed the liberator of women.
Signs of the Living God
Signs of the Living God is comprised of two short essays in which Hazrat Musleh Ma’ud(ra) details various prophecies of the Promised Messiah(as) to establish the truth of the Promised Messiah’s(as) claim and to show that God manifested the same signs through him that were manifested at the hands of the prophets of the past. These prophecies include the one regarding Alexander Dowie, prophecies relating to the First World War and the prophecy about the fall of the Tsar of Russia.
