Batik Pesisir Pusaka Indonesia

Meyer tahun 1870; seprai Lasem yang dibuat awal abad lalu; batik Pekalongan buatan Oey Soe Tjoen Kwee Nettie yang terkenal halus pengerjaannya, batik Belanda buatan Lien Metzelaar dan Eliza van Zuylen, batik Djawa Hokokai; di samping batik Kudus, Banyumas, Cirebon, Madura, Garut, dsb. Juga kain gendongan yang motifnya cukup variatif. Buku ini sekilas juga menyinggung mengenai perkembangan batik pesisir yang halus dan indah itu di pesisir utara Jawa, yang menurut ilmuwan Inggris Peter Carey merupakan “belanga peleburan”, tempat lahirnya kebudayaan baru yang unik akibat pertemuan para pedagang, pelawat dan agamawan dari India, Arab, Barat, dsb. dengan penduduk setempat.
