Critical Perspectives on Refugee and Migrant Integration in Education
This open-access book offers a critical appraisal, at the cross-section of theory and practice, of concepts of integration at work in education in diverse geopolitical settings. With chapters written by experts based in Cyprus, Ethiopia, Germany, Mexico, Pakistan, the UK and the USA, the book includes discussion of regions of conflict, post-conflict and also non-conflict societies in which a cultural hegemony has developed strategies to “integrate” groups perceived as “other”. The book challenges the idea of “integration” in education considering how it relates to inclusion and exclusion and considers the extent to which integration can be empirically studied or evaluated. By accommodating a diversity of voices and perspectives, the structure of this book critically questions the underlying hegemonic Global North-shaped assumptions that have informed the integration debate. Grundlagen der sprachlichen Bildung
Der Band ist das Ergebnis eines mehrjährigen interdisziplinären Diskussionsprozesses der beteiligten Autorinnen und Autoren. Das findet seinen sichtbaren Ausdruck in dem einleitenden Beitrag über Grundlagen der Mehrsprachigkeit, dessen normative Perspektive von allen Beteiligten geteilt wird. Der Band stellt grundlegende Inhalte zur sprachlichen Bildung in der mehrsprachigen Gesellschaft dar und konzentriert sich dabei auf gesicherte Erkenntnisse zu Spracherwerb, Mehrsprachigkeit und sprachlicher Bildung. Damit soll auch Mythen und anderen hinderlichen Überzeugungen begegnet werden. Thematisch widmet sich der Band neben einer historischen Perspektive dem (kindlichen) Spracherwerb und der mehrsprachigen Sprachentwicklung, der sprachlichen Bildung in Institutionen von der Kita über die Schule bis hin zur Erwachsenenbildung sowie forschungsmethodischen Fragen.
Optimierungsdruck im Kontext von Migration
Niels Uhlendorf untersucht den Optimierungsdruck auf Migrantinnen und Migranten, dem diese sich nach ihrer Ankunft in Deutschland ausgesetzt sehen. Am Fallbeispiel von jungen, bildungserfolgreichen Deutsch-Iranerinnen und -Iranern arbeitet er mit einer Verbindung aus Diskursanalyse und Biographieforschung die teils widersprüchlichen Optimierungsanforderungen und ihre individuell-biographischen Verarbeitungen heraus. Während einerseits oft hohe Erwartungen seitens der Ankunftsgesellschaft an Migrantinnen und Migranten formuliert werden, ist es aufgrund von Diskriminierungserfahrungen zugleich häufig schwierig, sich erfolgreich zu etablieren.
Individuelle Verantwortung in Unternehmen
In dieser Arbeit nimmt Nora Verfürth die Rolle individueller Entscheidungsprozesse für die Umsetzung von Corporate Social Responsibility (kurz: CSR) in den Fokus. Es werden Faktoren herausgearbeitet, theoretisch eingeordnet und systematisiert, die individuelle Entscheidungen von Mitarbeitern im Sinne einer gesellschaftlichen Verantwortung von Unternehmen fördern bzw. verhindern. Hintergrund ist, dass die Frage nach CSR zumeist auf der Ebene der Organisation (Mesoebene) behandelt und danach gefragt wird, warum Unternehmen als Ganzes gesellschaftliche Verantwortung übernehmen (sollten). Im Unterschied dazu steht in diesem Buch die Frage im Zentrum, wie und von wem Verantwortung innerhalb des Unternehmens (Mikroebene) übernommen werden kann.
