Erste Kinderjahre - Zweiter Weltkrieg
1940 verlässt die Familie Hamburg, geht nach München und von dort aus in ein kleines Bergbauerndorf in Tirol. Der Vater ist im Krieg in Russland, wird später als vermisst erklärt und kehrt aus dem Krieg nicht mehr zurück. Der Bruder verliert ein Auge. Das Haus, in dem die Familie in Hamburg lebt, wird zerbombt. 1945 Kriegsende. Die Familie zieht nach München und kann bei den Großeltern väterlicherseits leben. Einschulung in die Grundschule in München. Nach drei Jahren kommen beide Kinder in die Rudolf Steiner Schule. Die Mutter beginnt sich in ihrem Beruf als Fotografin ein Geschäft aufzubauen. 1949 kehrt die Tochter der Großeltern aus den USA zurück. Sie ist Primaballerina und bekommt an der Münchner Staatsoper wieder ein Engagement. Die Kinder müssen mit ihrer Mutter ausziehen, weil ihre Tante meint, die Belastung ihrer Eltern wäre zu groß. Auch will sie alleine mit ihren Eltern leben. Der Großvater baut über dem Atelier seiner Schwiegertochter eine kleine Wohnung aus, die nun das Zuhause wird.
