Contains the results from a survey conducted by the Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF), the research affiliate of the American Society of Civil Engineers. This report provides a summary of product evaluation activities, and policy/technical guidance to plan and operate Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center (HITEC).
Prepared by the Environmental Technology Evaluation Center (EvTEC) and the Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center (HITEC), CERF Service Centers. This report provides an update on technology and is intended to assist the Federal Highway Administration's Priority Technology Program (PTP) and departments of transportation in all 50 states. It identifies barriers that hinder the widespread use of bioremediation in the highway environment, as well as methods to overcome these barriers. The evaluation is based on design, construction, performance, and quality assurance information outlined in the HITEC and EvTEC Protocols. The three case studies examine PTP projects in Alabama, Indiana, and Mississippi.
Prepared by the Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center, a CERF Service Center. This report describes results obtained from the field evaluation of Ice Ban as a liquid anti-icing and deicing agent during the 1996-1997 winter season. Ice Ban is the concentrated liquid residue of the fermentation and distillation of alcohols (ethanol) and the processing of corn and other agricultural products. Ice Ban can be applied as a liquid anti-icing or deicing agent and as a road salt or sand pretreating agent.
The Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center (HITEC) serves as a clearinghouse for implementing highway innovation by providing nationally-focused, collaborative evaluations of new products and technologies. This report was developed as part of the HITEC evaluation plan for US Gypsum's Sight and Sound Screen.
Prepared by the Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center, a CERF Service Center. This report presents the HITEC evaluation plan for U.S. Gypsum's Sight and Sound Screen. The Sight and Sound Screen is a post-and-panel wall system designed to act as a sight and sound barrier for highways and as a privacy system for residential and commercial property owners. The HITEC evaluation will measure the performance of the barrier against the criteria presented in this report, which reflect the needs of the highway community. Although this evaluation plan was tailored to one product, as a service to state and local transportation officials the report was expanded to provide guidelines that can be adapted for use with other types of sound wall systems.
Prepared by the Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center (HITEC), a CERF Service Center. his report summarizes the results of an evaluation that was designed to test the performance of 11 seismic isolators and dampers. The devices were tested for stability, response during earthquake simulations, and fatigue and weathering effects.

This book is a collection of the marketing/technical/regulatory sessions of the Composites Institute's International Composites EXPO '97 held at Nashville, Tennessee on January 27-29, 1997.
Prepared by the Environmental Technology Evaluation Center (EvTEC), a CERF Service Center. This report presents the findings from a June 1997 Environmental Technology Needs Survey conducted by EvTEC. The survey was developed to help EvTEC gain a better understanding of present practices and procedures in evaluating new products and determine how EvTEC could best respond to the needs of all stakeholders in the environmental community. The survey contained general information questions as well as specialized questions for three groups: users and regulators of environmental products; entrepreneurs who invent, develop, or market new technologies and products; and research institutes and testing labs that carry out product and technology evaluations.
Prepared by the Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center (HITEC), a CERF service center. This report presents the results of a detailed evaluation ofĂthe MX 30 pavement marking 30-meter retroreflectometer. The evaluation is designed to test the measurement bias, repeatability, and reproducibility of handheld and mobile retroreflectometers produced by several manufacturers.
