Dekane
Am Beispiel der Evangelischen Landeskirche in Württemberg wird die kirchliche Funktionselite der Dekane und damit die für das Funktionieren einer kirchlichen Verwaltung entscheidende Personengruppe erstmals systematisch untersucht. Damit werden Innenansichten einer lutherischen Landeskirche möglich, die sich als eine der wenigen der Eingliederung in die Reichskirche zu widersetzen vermochte. Aus einer akteurszentrierten Perspektive werden insbesondere die Rolle der Dekane bei der nationalsozialistischen "Machtergreifung" sowie der Selbstbehauptung der württembergischen Kirche unter den Bedingungen der nationalsozialistischen Diktatur beschrieben. Ein eigenes Kapitel ordnet zentrale Ergebnisse in übergreifende Fragestellungen ein und schärft das Profil der Dekane durch den Vergleich mit militärischen und Verwaltungseliten.
