Robert E. Howard published primarily in pulp magazines, creating memorable characters like Conan of Cimmeria. After his suicide at the age of 30, pulps continued publishing Howard material posthumously. His first hardcover book appeared in 1937, a year after his death. That book, A Gent from Bear Creek, is the holy grail for Howard collectors--only 12 original copies are known to exist. This invaluable resource for Howard collectors has information for every known published work. Initial chapters provide a biography, discuss Howard's literary legacy, and give basic tips about book collecting and selling. The main body of the work is a bibliography of Howard's published works from 1925 through 2005. A thorough index locates the publication of every Howard story or poem.
In Publishing the Family June Howard turns a study of the collaborative novel The Whole Family into a lens through which to examine American literature and culture at the beginning of the twentieth century. Striving to do equal justice to historical particulars and the broad horizons of social change, Howard reconsiders such categories of analysis as authorship, genre, and periodization. In the process, she offers a new method for cultural studies and American studies at the beginning of the twenty-first century. Publishing the Family describes the sources and controversial outcome of a fascinating literary experiment. Howard embeds the story of The Whole Family in the story of Harper & Brot...

Contemporary culture has a grossly distorted view of what it means to be a person, emphasizing vanity over value, wealth over worth, and upward mobility over a higher calling. It's a view that author Ed Young stands ready to challenge. As founder and senior pastor of Fellowship Church in Dallas, the fifth largest church in America, Young has seen both the devastation that wrong views can bring and the liberation that can be found when a godly perspective takes hold. Writing in a highly readable style, Young confronts the pain and scars that hinder our growth and encourages readers to see exactly who they are in the eyes of a God who loves them beyond compare and wants the best for their lives.

Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, many of us let go of our dreams. We stop trusting that anything will be different. We stop hoping that anything could get better. We stop expecting life to be full of excitement, anticipation, joy, fun, and hope. Optimism is replaced by anger, frustration, and bitterness. But it doesn't have to be that way. Bob Coy, senior pastor of the seventeen thousand-member Calvary Chapel of Fort Lauderdale, believes that hope can be revived and we can rekindle in our heart the expectation of something more. Using the biblical story of Joseph as a running analogy, Coy looks to God as our dream-deliverer as well as the source of our dreams. He asserts that, as we come to understand God's heart toward us and the bigger picture of our lives, we can reclaim and live out our dreams.
