Tanaman Upakara
Tanaman Upakara yang ditanam di Ashram Gandhi Puri merupakan tanaman langka tetapi sangat penting di dalam pelaksanaan upacara di Bali. Pengabdian berbasis Pengambilan tema penanaman tanaman upakara ini bertujuan untuk melestarikan tanaman upakara yang keberadaannya semakin langka. Melalui penanaman tanaman upakara ini, disamping upaya melestarikan tanaman agar tidak terjadi kepunahan, juga terkait bagaimana memudahkan masyarakat mencari tanaman ini ketika diperlukan saat melakukan upacara.
Tanaman Kelapa untuk Upakara
Kelapa menjadi bagian tak terpisahkan dari kebudayaan Bali. Seluruh bagian kelapa bisa dimanfaatkan baik sebagai bahan bangunan, kerajinan, hingga bahan upacara. Hampir tidak ada upacara keagamaan Hindu di Bali yang tidak memakai unsur kelapa. Minimal, ada janur kelapa yang pasti dipakai. Menurut sejarah dalam kitab-kitab suci Hindu, kelapa diturunkan dari swargaloka sebagai tanaman kalpataru, yang memenuhi segala kebutuhan manusia. Karena itu, masyarakat Bali memiliki berbagai jenis kelapa yang dianggap memiliki kekuatan suci dan digunakan dalam berbagai tujuan sakral.

Indonesian Manuscripts from the Islands of Java, Madura, Bali and Lombok discusses aspects of the long and impressive manuscript traditions of these islands, which share many aspects of manuscript production. Many hitherto unaddressed features of palm-leaf manuscripts are discussed here for the first time as well as elements of poetic texts, indications of mistakes, colophons and the calendrical information used in these manuscripts. All features discussed are explained with photographs. The introductory chapters offer insights into these traditions in a wider setting and the way researchers have studied them. This original and pioneering work also points out what topics needs further exploration to understand these manuscript traditions that use a variety of materials, languages, and scripts to a wider public.
