Battles and Borders. Perspectives on Cultural Transmission and Literature in Minor Language Areas is about literature on the fringes of Europe. The authors all discuss the often unique ways in which literary history and cultural transfer function in peripheral and central regions against the background of shifting national borders in the last two centuries. Special attention is paid to minority and migrant groups in Northwest Europe. The present volume aims to prompt a reconsideration of the concepts of minority' and migrant' cultures and literatures in the past and the present day. It also suggests a new topic for further study: the importance of cultural transfer for migrant groups (whether or not they form a diaspora) and their ability to create new words and to develop new identities.

Slaat men Zweedse en Zweedstalige Finse auteurs in Nederlandse vertaling 1491-2007. Een bibliografie. Svenska och finlandssvenska författare i nederländsk översättning 1491-2007. En bibliografi open, dan ziet men in een oogopslag dat er heel wat meer auteurs uit het Zweeds in het Nederlands door de eeuwen heen zijn vertaald. Door bibliografieën als deze in het onderzoek naar de cultuurbemiddeling te betrekken wordt het mogelijk een completer beeld te krijgen van vertaalde buitenlandse literatuur. Deze bibliografie geeft samen met de bibliografie van Diederik Grit over de Deense letteren in Nederland en Vlaanderen (1986) en de bibliografie over Noorse literatuur in Nederlandse vertaling van Raf De Saeger (2013, ook in deze serie) een bijzonder overzicht van de culturele contacten tussen Nederland en Scandinavië.

Übersetzerforschung
Der im Kontext der Arbeit am ‚Germersheimer Übersetzerlexikon‘ entstandene Band ‚Übersetzerforschung‘ lädt zur Diskussion über die Entwicklungen auf diesem neuen Forschungsfeld ein. Theoretisch-methodische Überlegungen zur translationsorientierten Biographik, zu Exil und Zensur, zum Originalitätsdispositiv oder zu den Herausforderungen digitalen Publizierens stehen neben – oft auf intensiven Archivstudien beruhenden – exemplarischen Fallstudien zum translatorischen Œuvre bzw. Leben und Werk einzelner Übersetzer: Brecht, Gutkind, Hofmannsthal, Klabund, Lipiner, Losa, Meyerhof, Otten, Palm, Reiner und Witte. Die translations-, sprach-, literatur- und kulturwissenschaftlich ausgerichteten Beiträge dokumentieren den Perspektivenreichtum einer historisch interessierten Übersetzerforschung. Zusätzlich unterstrichen wird dieser Reichtum durch die Vielzahl jener Sprachen, aus denen die im Band vorgestellten Übersetzer ins Deutsche gearbeitet haben.

Sinds het verschijnen in juni 2013 van Noorse auteurs in Nederlandse vertaling 1741-2012. Een bibliografie - Norske forfattere oversatt til nederlandsk 1741-2012. En bibliografi hebben verschillende cultuurbemiddelaars die vertalingen verzorgen van Noorse literatuur in het Nederlands spontaan suggesties en aanvullingen doorgegeven. De respons geeft mij het vertrouwen dat de eerste druk van deze bibliografie een handig werkinstrument is voor al wie met Noorse literatuur begaan is. De bibliografie uit 2013 vormt dan ook een basis voor een verdere studie waarbij een ruimer beeld wordt verkregen van de wijze waarop Noorse literatuur onder de aandacht werd gebracht in tijdschriften, week- en maan...
