El libro Grandes lecciones/pequeñas edificaciones tiene una premisa en su título: las obras de arquitectura de pequeña escala presentan de modo sintético y sucinto búsquedas más amplias y esenciales en las trayectorias de sus respectivos proyectistas. Con esta hipótesis de trabajo en mente hemos seleccionado como objetos de estudio de este libro las siguientes tres edificaciones colombianas contemporáneas de pequeño formato: el Pabellón del Café del Museo Nacional de Colombia de Leonardo Álvarez y Ricardo Cruz, la Leroteca de Gloria Serna y el Café del Bosque de Ana Elvira Vélez y Lorenzo Castro. Para cada uno de los tres proyectos profundizamos en variables asociadas al lugar, la actividad y la tectónica; además, anunciamos algunas hipótesis que consideramos pueden resultar de utilidad para estudiantes, proyectistas e investigadores de la arquitectura. This volume examines the unprecedented growth of several cities in Latin America from 1830 to 1930, observing how sociopolitical changes and upheavals created the conditions for the birth of the metropolis. Die Kathedrale im globalen Christentum
Das vorliegende Buch widmet sich dem Phänomen der Kathedrale, denn Kathedralen stellen Referenzbauten in der Entwicklung der Weltchristenheit dar. Im Fokus steht der Kathedralenbau in seinen jeweiligen historischen Kontexten als ein ästhetisches Mittel des Christentums zur umfassenden Welterschließung. Ebenfalls zur Sprache kommen die Spannungen und Konflikte, von denen diese Welterschließung begleitet ist: zwischen West und Ost, zwischen den unterschiedlichen Konfessionen, zwischen christlicher Mission und klerikalen bzw. kolonialistischen Anmaßungen, zunehmend auch die Spannungen zwischen Religion und nachaufklärerischer Säkularität. Abschließend wird die Entwicklung des Dombaus als ein Paradigma der Konfessionsgeschichte für die Folgezeit sichtbar gemacht, und zwar im größeren Kontext des sich etablierenden christlichen Fundamentalismus bzw. eines Christentums diesseits der traditionellen Konfessionen einerseits und der sich abzeichnenden Krisen des Religiösen in den europäischen Volkskirchen andererseits.
