The Origins of Life
Life appears ungraspable, yet its understanding lies at the heart of current preoccupations. In our attempt to understand life through its origins, the ambition of the present collection is to unravel the network of the origin of the various spheres of sense that carry it onwards. The primogenital matrix of generation (Tymieniecka), elaborated as the fulcrum of this collection, elucidates the main riddles of the scientific / philosophical controversies concerning the status of various spheres that seek to make sense of life.
Life Energies, Forces and the Shaping of Life: Vital, Existential
The nature of life consists in a constructive becoming (see Analecta Husserliana vol. 70). Though caught up in its relatively stable, stationary intervals manifesting the steps of its accomplishments that our attention is fixed. In this selection of studies we proceed, in contrast, to envisage life in the Aristotelian perspective in which energia, forces, and dynamisms of life at work are at the fore. Startling questions emerge: `what distinction could be drawn between the prompting forces of life and its formation? Or, is this distinction a result of our transcendental faculties?' The answers to these questions reveal themselves, as Tymieniecka proposes, at the phenomenologically ontopoietic level of life's origination where transcendentality surges.
Does the World Exist?
"Does the World exist?" There would be no reason to resurrect this question of modernity from its historical oblivion were it not for the fact that recent evolution in science and technology, impregnating culture, makes us wonder about the nature of reality, of the world we are living in, and of our status as living beings within it. Thus great metaphysical subjacent queries are forcefully revived, calling for new investigations to proceed in the light of the innumerable novel insights of science. This collection presents a wealth of material toward an elaboration of a new metaphysical groundwork of the ontopoiesis/ phenomenology of life sought to effect such investigations. The classic postulates of the metaphysics of reality, those of necessity and certainty here find a new formulation. Away from sclerotized ontological and cognitive assumptions and congenial with the views of contemporary science, the understanding of reality, of our world of life, and of ourselves within it is to be sought in the existential/ontopoietic ciphering of life (Tymieniecka).

Il presente volume idealmente prosegue ed approfondisce i temi inerenti all'etica husserliana (ricerca cui l'autrice ha già peraltro dedicato un volume) entrando però nello specifico di temi quali il desiderio, la volontà razionale, l'impulso, l'istinto; e questo sulla base di vari manoscritti husserliani tuttora inediti e scarsamente presi in considerazioni dai vari studiosi di Husserl. Ne emerge un quadro singolare della fenomenologia che ridimensiona la consueta immagine, ormai impostasi come uno stereotipo, di un Husserl quale pensatore prevalentemente intellettualista e teoreticista per fare posto ad una possibile riconfigurazione del suo pensiero inteso come sorgente inesauribile di profonde riflessioni sul senso e sul valore della vita a livello emozionale ed insieme pratico-razionale.
