Surveyor Alexander Power chose the Conneaut Creek Valley as a place to build a home after discovering its beauty in 1795. Within the decade, westward travelers had turned this raw country landscape into a thriving village, and the settlement became Conneautville in 1814. Following the completion of the Erie Extension Canal in 1844, Conneautville enjoyed an economic boom. By the beginning of the 20th century, the Hotel Power brought travelers near and far to relax in a bath of mineral-rich springwater. By its centennial in 1914, Conneautville had become a landmark and included an opera block, bowling alleys, brick-lined streets, a luxurious hotel, and many beautiful churches. Lloyd’s Register of Yachts 1899
The Lloyd’s Register of Yachts was first issued in 1878, and was issued annually until 1980, except during the years 1916-18 and 1940-46. Two supplements containing additions and corrections were also issued annually. The Register contains the names, details and characters of Yachts classed by the Society, together with the particulars of other Yachts which are considered to be of interest, illustrates plates of the Flags of Yacht and Sailing Clubs, together with a List of Club Officers, an illustrated List of the Distinguishing Flags of Yachtsmen, a List of the Names and Addresses of Yacht Owners, and much other information.
