Regional Perspectives of COVID-19 in Indonesia
In mid 2020, IRSA produced a call for papers inviting Indonesian academics to report and analyse issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic at regional level in Indonesia in order to provide regional perspectives on how the pandemic has affected local people, and how local people responded to this treat and what policy gaps seen from the regions. Thirty-five academics responded to this call, resulting in these 15 selected chapters for this book. These chapters deal with inter-regions as well as specific region analysis. The specific region analyses cover from issues in large cities such as Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Manado to those in remote areas such as Tual islands, border areas of West Kalimantan and Papua. The COVID-19 related issues in this book are rich, as they also include the issues of regional election, people mobilities, social capital, poverty and food prices. Ninth International Symposium “Monitoring of Mediterranean Coastal Areas: Problems and Measurement Techniques”
The ninth International Symposium Monitoring of Mediterranean Coastal Areas: Problems and Measurements Techniques was organized by CNR-IBE in collaboration with Italian Society of Silviculture and Forest Ecology, and Natural History Museum of the Mediterranean and under the patronage of University of Florence, Accademia dei Lincei, Accademia dei Georgofili, Tuscany Region, The North Tyrrhenian Sea Ports System Authority, Livorno Municipality and Livorno Province. In the Symposium Scholars had illustrated their activities and exchanged innovative proposals, with common aims to promote actions to preserve coastal marine environment. Despite the COVID 19 pandemic, the success of this edition is attested by the 170 contributions selected by the Scientific Committee from among those received. Participation involved all the thematic lines envisaged by the sessions, involving many countries of the Mediterranean Sea. A big endeavor for a costal environment of paramount importance but threatened by global changes. The importance of this Proceedings is attested by the fact that this volume is the first issue of a new FUP Series.
Disasters and Regional Development in Indonesia

The country, hence, has to always be prepared and resilient toward these kinds of event. Institution, Human Capital and Development in Indonesia
In 2021, the Indonesia economy has bounced back to almost at the condition before the COVID-19 pandemic. Confdence, in general, has been strong among Indonesians with the aim to rebuild the country better. Growth is expected to accelerate to escape the middle-income trap before 2045 and, at the same time, to transform to green economy. It has been argued, nevertheless, that, to achieve these goals, Indonesia needs to improve its qualities of institutions and human capital.
