Mental Health and Pain
This book proposes a didactic approach to the different aspects of pain in mental health. The various chapters cover the myths, neurophysiology, perception, measurement and management of pain in mental health. The most common problems, including mood disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety, somatoform disorders and pervasive developmental disorders, are covered. Each chapter addresses the problem of pain by putting an emphasis on the characteristics of different populations of patients suffering from mental illness. The book helps specialists working in different areas of mental health to appreciate the importance of pain problems in mental health and also offers avenues for the measurement and treatment of pain in these patients. Mental health and pain are complex issues. They also share certain mutually influential neurophysiological mechanisms, which makes it even more difficult to identify their specific individual characteristics. This duality between the somatic and psychic components can become a pitfall for the specialist in mental health since it can be difficult to disentangle the evolution of a painful condition from the mental illness.

Political History of Belgium from 1830 Onwards
This new political history of Belgium provides the reader with insights into the management of the economic recession of the 1980's, the constitutional reforms of 1988 and 1992-93, into recent developments among political parties and pressure groups and the problems facing them today, and into the changing relations between parliament, the government and the titular head of state. This edition has been completely revised, involving a re-examination of events from 1830 to 1945 in the light of more recent historical work and a systematic reworking of the period after 1945. Very recent developments are treated fully, including the crisls of legitimacy of the political system in general and of the workings of the law in particular. La douleur chronique
Quand il est question de douleur chronique, on constate rapidement les limites du modèle traditionnel de la relation médecin-patient. C’est pourquoi il importe de promouvoir un modèle de soins centré sur le patient, l’encourageant à devenir un partenaire engagé dans la gestion de sa santé. Mais ça ne va pas de soi. Les textes regroupés ici s’articulent autour de trois grands axes thématiques : la psychothérapie, l’anthropologie et la diffusion du savoir. L’intérêt d’un tel regroupement est qu’il permet de varier les points de vue et d’aborder la douleur dans toutes ses dimensions : psychique, anthropologique, historique, éthique, religieuse ou sociale. Dans cette optique interdisciplinaire, la prise en charge de la douleur est une donnée fondamentale à l’aune de laquelle doivent être repensées la formation et la pratique des professionnels de la santé. C’est cet effort de concertation que l’on retrouve dans ce livre.
