Il Dizionario biografico degli Architetti e Ingegneri dell’Ottocento preunitario negli Archivi napoletani costituisce il primo tentativo di razionalizzazione della ricerca su quei tecnici che, tanto nel periodo borbonico ottocentesco quanto durante il Decennio francese, si formarono a Napoli e che furono poi attivi nella capitale e nel Regno. Il carattere inedito del volume è garantito dalle voci di quelle figure note solo in parte, con notizie frammentarie disseminate nelle varie fonti bibliografiche basate su specifici temi della trasformazione urbana della città e del Regno. Il dizionario, raccogliendo quanto pubblicato e rinvenuto nelle fonti d’archivio, diventa un importante strumento per la ricognizione della loro attività professionale, mostrando un repertorio di notevole interesse per qualità artistica o per proposte urbane molto incisive nel tessuto storico della città.
