Thoughts Upon Hunting. in a Series of Familiar Letters to a Friend. by Peter Beckford, Esq. the Third Edition

The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. Rich in titles on English life and social history, this collection spans the world as it was known to eighteenth-centur...

I was motivated to publish a notebook with inspirational notes because of my first book- The Trumpet Sounds... Calls to Restoration. I realized that in my every day walk through life - situations can become so complex, that sometimes not even the nearest and dearest person can be found to offer a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on. Each person has his or her own issues to deal with and we are living in a world that is troubled on every side. This special notebook aims to share nuggets of powerful encouragement to help lift your own thinking. I am motivated by God through the Holy Spirit; these profound messages have helped me through difficult situations, in them I find comfort, consolation and peace. I have been wonderfully blessed to have listened to many people's testimonies of life's healing, achievements and trials and feel compelled to share this great source of strength with you. This Note book is not just to write notes, but one that offers a word of comfort - a word of inspiration.

Vilified publicly as a pedophile, William Beckford sought refuge in his Fonthill estate where he amassed works of art fit for a king. He resided initially in a magnificent house called Fonthill Splendens, but then ordered it demolished to fund a work of art on a grand scale called Fonthill Abbey. Four public sales in 1801 and 1807 provided accessibility to Splendens and thousands came to examine the opulent offerings. Then the new structure with its extravagant Gothic interior, extraordinary possessions and scenic landscaping effects began to draw obsessive attention. This interest reached a pitch in 1822 when the entire estate was offered for sale, developing into a 'Fonthill fever' with ov...

The growth of Islam in Europe is reflected in the increasing numbers of Muslims in British and French prisons, but authorities have responded differently to the challenges presented by Muslim prisoners in each country. The findings of three years of intensive research in a variety of prisons show that British prisons facilitate and control the practice d of Islam, whereas French prisons discourage it and thereby sow the seeds of extremism. The policy implications of these ironic findings are examined in detail.
