For half a century the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology has been dedicated to providing an annual in-depth evaluation of an important clinical topic in ophthalmology. These symposia have always been a combination of relevant clinical thought, based on outstanding knowledge, and current research. In 1996 this tradition was continued with the symposium "Peril to the Nerve - Ophthalmology".
