John Jacob Lehrman was born 22 January 1817 in Bahlingen, Baden, Germany. His parents were Matthias Lehrman and Rosina Ernst. They emigrated in 1832 and settled first in Canton, Ohio and then in Allen County, Indiana. He married Dorothea Heckler in 1846 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They had seven children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Indiana.

The Beachy Family
Peter Beachy (1725-1805) and his family immigrated from Switzerland to Baltimore County, Maryland before 1768, and in 1783 moved to Somerset (then Bedford) County, Pennsylvania. Descendants (many were old Amish, many were Mennonites) lived in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa and elsewhere. Some immigrated to Ontario and else- where in Canada.
Ancestors and Relatives
This book follows the genealogy of the Tasker and Blackburn families who originated in the area around Goole in Yorkshire. There were branches of the Tasker family in Rawcliffe, Airmyn, Hook, Cowick and Snaith. The Blackburn family farmed at Spaldington and Holme on Spalding Moor, near Howden in the East Riding, before moving to Goole Fields. Later, members of both families lived in Goole itself. The title of the book reflects these movements. But Taskers and Blackburns married into other families, and many of them moved away. There were sizeable branches in Hull, Todmorden and other parts of Yorkshire, and one large branch as far away as Seaham Harbour in County Durham. The book includes these side branches too. His father, Jerry Lee Nichols, is a direct descendent of Little Turtle, a famous chief of the Miami tribe. His mother, Pamela Amber McCurdy, is of the royal line of McCurdys. Nichols was smuggled out of Turkey and into Ohio. The government of Turkey tried to keep him.
