Repertório bibliográfico sobre a condição do negro no Brasil
Pesquisadores, estudiosos e cidadãos interessados na situação do negro no Brasil muitas vezes têm dificuldade de encontrar fontes de pesquisa confiáveis. Obter informações embasadas cientificamente, avaliar a veracidade, checar as fontes e ter um olhar crítico sobre o conteúdo encontrado não é tarefa fácil. Pensando em auxiliar o trabalho de quem precisa encontrar e filtrar referências entre tantas disponíveis, a Câmara dos Deputados, por iniciativa do Programa Pró-Equidade de Gênero e Raça e da Biblioteca da Câmara dos Deputados, organizou esse guia de fontes de pesquisa sobre a temática racial no país. O livro reúne uma bibliografia abrangente e diversificada sobre a condição do negro, facilitando o acesso a artigos que informam, debatem, analisam, refletem e denunciam a questão racial ao longo da história do Brasil até os dias atuais. Com esta publicação, a Câmara dos Deputados reafirma o seu compromisso com a promoção da igualdade racial no país.

Afrocidadanização
Quando Reinaldo da Silva Guimarães propôs pesquisar a trajetória profissional dos bolsistas de ação social formados pela PUC-Rio, ele adotou sua própria história como referência intelectual e emocional para compreender as percepções narradas pelos entrevistados. Estes apontam para um contexto pautado na perseverança e no desejo de superação, mostrando uma realidade pouco conhecida e difícil de ser traduzida, mas repleta de simbolismos: a realidade das relações raciais no Brasil. A trajetória do autor reflete e dá essência e concretude ao conceito de afrocidadanização: nascido em comunidade pobre, Reinaldo conseguiu superar diversos momentos difíceis e ingressar na universidade. Como um dos protagonistas dessa história de "sucesso", ele aproveita sua narrativa para explicitar o processo de construção de identidade racial. Este livro foi produzido em regime de coedição com a PUC-Rio. Prefácio de Elisa Larkin Nascimento.

On Heidegger's Being and Time
On Heidegger's Being and Time is an outstanding exploration of Heidegger's most important work by two major philosophers. Simon Critchley argues that we must see Being and Time as a radicalization of Husserl's phenomenology, particularly his theories of intentionality, categorial intuition, and the phenomenological concept of the a priori. This leads to a reappraisal and defense of Heidegger's conception of phenomenology. In contrast, Reiner Schürmann urges us to read Heidegger 'backward', arguing that his later work is the key to unravelling Being and Time. Through a close reading of Being and Time Schürmann demonstrates that this work is ultimately aporetic because the notion of Being elaborated in his later work is already at play within it. This is the first time that Schürmann's renowned lectures on Heidegger have been published. The book concludes with Critchley's reinterpretation of the importance of authenticity in Being and Time. Arguing for what he calls an 'originary inauthenticity', Critchley proposes a relational understanding of the key concepts of the second part of Being and Time: death, conscience and temporality.

This volume is an updated and revised version of the General Course on Public International Law delivered by the Author at The Hague Academy of International Law in 2005. Professor Cançado Trindade, Doctor honoris causa of seven Latin American Universities in distinct countries, was for many years Judge of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and President of that Court for half a decade (1999-2004). He is currently Judge of the International Court of Justice; he is also Member of the Curatorium of The Hague Academy of International Law, as well as of the Institut de Droit International, and of the Brazilian Academy of Juridical Letters.
Voices of the Magi
Voices of the Magi explores the popular Catholic musical ensembles of southeastern Brazil known as folias de reis (companies of kings). Composed predominantly of low-income workers, the folias reenact the journey of the Wise Men to Bethlehem and back to the Orient, as they roam from house to house, singing to bless the families they visit in exchange for food and money. These gifts, in turn, are used to prepare a festival on Kings' Day, January 6, to which all who contributed are invited. Focusing on urban folias, Suzel Ana Reily shows how participants use the ritual journeys and musical performances of the folias to create sacred spheres distinct from, yet intimately related to, their everyday world. Reily calls this practice "enchantment" and argues that it allows the folia communities to temporarily make the social ideals of mutual reciprocity and equality embodied in their religious beliefs a reality. The contrast between their ritual experiences and the daily lives of these impoverished workers, in turn, reinforces the religious convictions of these devotees of the music of the Magi.
