La economía ambiental es aquella rama del análisis económico que sugiere la aplicación de algunos métodos que permitan valorar económicamente los recursos naturales, fortaleciendo el concepto de valoración ambiental, que tiene como propósito asignar un valor monetario al daño realizado al recurso natural, al ecosistema o bien a las externalidades o fallas del mercado ocasionadas por las actividades económicas que pueden repercutir positivamente o negativamente a un agente económico, a un bien o a un recurso natural.
Con publicar "Santa Marta del Olvido al Recuerdo: Historia Económica y Social de más de cuatro siglos", lo que se busca es sacar del baúl de los recuerdos algunos hechos históricos de Santa Marta que sucedieron desde su fundación hasta bien entrado el siglo XX y así dejar de lado el olvido en que esta ciudad se ha visto abocada a lo largo de muchos lustros y con ello así honrar su memoria y la de su pueblo.
