Em uma costura muito bem alinhavada, a obra aponta dados fundamentais para entender a situação do Mucuri. Como um mantra ou uma litania, as causas desse cenário trágico repetem-se ainda hoje: queimadas, uso não adequado de máquinas, utilização indevida de agrotóxicos, a exposição do solo aos agentes de erosão. No entanto, o livro apresenta um alento, um sopro de esperança. A degradação ambiental no Mucuri não sinaliza um panorama de completa inércia. Se o cenário ambiental é alarmante, concomitantemente, apresenta alternativas claras de reversão, perfeitamente possíveis. Depende apenas do ser humano, o que pode significar uma tragédia ou uma apoteose.
