The Story of a Toiler's Life
This is the story of James Mullin, born in poverty in Cookstown, Co Tyrone, left school at 11 and became a labourer. He later studied medicine and emigrated to Wales where he set up a medical practice in Cardiff. A Fenian and lifelong Republican and activist who revered Michael Davitt, Mullin includes pen portraits of Davitt, Parnell and Patrick Pearse.
The Lives and Times of Bonnie & Clyde
The author carefully gleaned materials from obscure locally published accounts, previously untapped court records, and archived but unpublished oral history accounts from some sixty victims, neighbors, relatives, and police who were involved in the exploits of the infamous duo. Using this information, he traces the violent path of Bonnie and Clyde until May 23, 1934, when they die in an ambush.
New Directions in Irish-American History
The writing of Irish American history has been transformed since the 1960s.
