Caring for Migrant and Minority Patients in European Hospitals
Social changes in European societies place migration and cultural diversity on the European political agenda. The European initiative Migrant Friendly Hospitals (MFH) aims to identify, develop and evaluate models of effective interventions. It has the following objectives: To strengthen the role of hospitals in promoting the health of migrants and ethnic minorities in the European Union and to improve hospital services for these groups. This report reviews models of effective intervention in the medical literature and provides the background information needed to enable partner hospitals taking part in the MFH initiative to select and implement suitable interventions. The interventions reviewed in this study are grouped in four areas: Communication, Responsiveness Empowerment of migrant and minority patients and communities. Translocal Care Across Kosovo’s Borders
In today’s globalized world, where the foundations of home and social security are destabilized due to wars and neoliberal transformations, the villagers of Kosovo are linked with a common locality despite living across borders. By tracing long-distant family relations with a special focus on cross-border marriages, this study looks at the reconfiguration of care relations, gender and generational roles among kin-members of Kosovo, who now live in different European states.
Cultures of Crisis in Southeast Europe

The Social Life of the Mall
Paseo La Estación, a mall in Buenos Aires, is as much a place of transit as a place of encounter, where long-term residents and newcomers, people with and without jobs, homeowners and those without housing meet. In the process, social tensions emerge, especially when classist, migrantizing, and moralizing distinctions become relevant in conflict-laden negotiations of belonging. In an ethnography of the mall, Franziska Reiffen explores how people find opportunities for social, economic, and political participation in precarious conditions, and shows how people create socially meaningful places in a city characterized by diversity, inequality, and mobility.

This edited volume concentrates on the period from the 1940s to the present, exploring how popular music forms such as blues, disco, reggae, hip hop, grime, metal and punk evolved and transformed as they traversed time and space.
