Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) are a large family of enzymes that function as signal transducers to regulate a diverse range of physiological responses. However, signaling via extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), c-Jun amino terminal kinase (JNK), and p38 MAPK also underpin many disease processes. This Special Issue provides new insights into how MAPK signaling contributes to specific pathological processes across a range of conditions, including disorders of lung development, type 2 diabetes, proliferative skin diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and neurological diseases.

Population-based cancer registries are an essential information source for quantifying the impact of cancer in a population and its evolution, planning and evaluation of cancer control policies and healthcare systems. In the last decades, the information provided by cancer registries has improved dramatically in quality and quantity. Technological advances and record linkage have contributed to data improvement. Therefore, clinical data collected by cancer registries such as stage, treatment, co-morbidity, etc. contribute to treatment effectiveness assessment and identification of inequality in health care access at the population level. The reliability and utility of the information provided by cancer registries depend on the quality of the data collected. On the other hand, cancer registries' data harmonisation is crucial for data use and comparability.
The goal of the Paediatric drug optimization for cancer exercise was to develop a PADO priority list of formulations to be prioritized with a time horizon of 3–5 years, and a PADO ‘watch list’ containing promising candidates for investigation and development for children with a time horizon of 5–10 years. The PADO–cancer exercise enables alignment between funders, procurers, market-coordination entities, researchers, innovators, generics manufacturers, product development partnerships and regulators on priority products to be investigated and developed, as well as increasing efforts to tackle challenges in access to cancer medicines in LMICs.
